Things recommended to bring

Racing Checklist for M6 LS1
| 1 | a. Leave the space tire at
home this will save close to 40 lbs of dead weight. b. Don't fill the windshield washer reservoir this saves an addition few pounds. c. Take anything out of the car the is not needed. ex. stacks of CDs, floor mats, etc. |
| 2 | Run the gas tank down until the check gauges light comes on the way to the track. Get gas just before the track but only get 3-4 gallons. This will leave you with near 1/4 tank and also reset the computer fuel/timing tables. |
| 3 | Make sure the air filter is clean for K&N or fresh for a paper filter. |
| 4 | Tighten up all rear suspension parts. Lower Control Arms and Torque Arm connection. |
| 5 | At track inflate the front
tires up to 45lbs. Lower rear tires to 20 - 24 lbs street tires. For
drag radials 18-20lbs. Always start testing higher, lowering pressure after each pass if needed. |
| 6 | At track inflate right rear airbag to 25-28 lbs. |
| 7 | If the track temp is above 70 then use the timing tricker mod. (4.7k Ohm resistor in air temp fitting) |
| 8 | 2 Miles before the track turn on the fan switch on High and leave on high until thru tech and into staging lanes. |
| 9 | Set shift light to 6000rpm. |
Pre-race / Launching / shifting techniques M6
| 1 | Leave your hood
open in staging to cool down. Also leave SLP fan on low while car off in
staging. When you start up as the lane is called turn the fan switch to High and turn off just before you line up at the tree. |
| 2 | Turn of the Traction Control System. |
| 3 | Pump the clutch while waiting in staging. |
| 4 | For street tires drive around the water and do quick 1 second spin to clean the tires of debris from the staging. |
| 5 | For Drag Radials drive around the water and engage line lock. Ease out on clutch w/o doing burn out to preload the rear briefly. With line lock engaged do a burn out until you see smoke in both mirrors for 5 seconds. Release the line lock and continue burnout up to the starting line. |
| 6 | Use the E-Brake to preload the rear at the starting lights by engaging the brake and letting clutch out slightly. |
| 7 | Watch the lights come down from red, yellow, yellow (as this light goes out go), green! Practice to get best R/T. |
| 8 | For street tires bring RPM from idle - 1500 rpm and engage clutch rapidly and floor it. Practice to get best 60' |
| 9 | For Drag Radials bring RPM up to 3700 - 5000 and engage clutch rapidly and floor it. Practice to get best 60' |
| 10 | First gear shift is pistol grip to second gear. Shift when the light comes on. Clutch as quickly as possible. |
| 11 | Second gear to third gear open palm fingers up straight forward push. Clutch as quickly as possible. |
| 12 | Third gear to forth gear open palm fingers down straight back push. Clutch as quickly as possible. |
| 13 | Pump the brakes to slow down after you pass the finish line. Pull around and collect your time slip. |
